Cindy is a cancer nurse and nurse educator who rotates working day and night shifts. When she’s not working she squeezes in some massive open water swims including one 25 mile swim in Vermont called "In Search of Memphre."
In Search of Memphre - Open Water Swimming
- 25 mile international swim on Lake Memphremagog between Newport, Vermont and Magog, Quebec.
- Freshwater ultra marathon swim.
- Started in 2011 on the tenth anniversary of 9/11 to promote a more open border with our Canadian friends and to search for that elusive, swimmer friendly, lake creature, Memphre.
- Only a select group of seven swimmers are selected each year to do this!
- Selection is based on the swimmer having a good spirit and commitment to their community.
- Average swim times for this event are between 11 and 19 hours with a current record time of 8 hrs and 35 minutes.
- Basically, it's a long swim!
