Ellen Bayer's Adventure Story: Dismantling Impostor Syndrome in the Central Cascade Range, WA
Ellen is a Boldly Went favorite storyteller having been featured twice before in the Boldly Went free podcasts where she shared her experience completing the Bryce Canyon 100 miler (Ep. 34) and the Barkley Fall Classic 50k (Ep. 17).
Adventure QuoteI had a fir branch go straight into my knee cap. There was blood gushing down and a meat flap coming off. He pulled me over and was going to doctor it up but then he was like “Oh, can I take a picture first?,” because he was so impressed with the blood and the meat flap. We’re laughing and doing photos and then get me cleaned up, and then I’m like ‘My cred is either going up or down because I got injured within 2 miles of this hike.’ ~Ellen Bayer at Horseshoe Lake in the Central Cascade Range |

Resa Rieckh Adventure Story: Regaining Confidence on the Colorado Trail
Resa hiked 9 days on the Colorado Trail, but plans to return in the summer of 2018 to hike the full 486 mile (782 km) distance and 89,000 feet (27,127m) of elevation gain.
Gabby Ramirez Adventure Story: Patterning Resilience in Moab, UT
Gabby came to the show with her dad, Jose, who clearly is encouraging her to embrace new challenges regularly, including getting up in front of an audience to share her impactful stories.
I think it’s likely that Gabby doesn’t yet realize the importance of the story about hiking to Hanging Lake and running out of water in her life. Clearly it was an adventure that left an impression on her, enough so that she wanted to tell the crowd in Laramie, WY about it, but I think this is an experience she will draw on as she grows remembering how she had to dig to find her strength in order to complete this hike when she was dehydrated.
Jose, thank you for encouraging your daughter to embrace challenges. With that kind of support, I like to think Gabby’s going to grow up to be a bold and brave young woman who eventually learns to pack her own water. And Gabby….keep exploring and being strong.
This is one of 2 stories Gabby shared with us in Laramie. I plan to air her other story in a later episode so be sure to hit the subscribe button on your podcasting app now so you don’t miss it!

Jose let me know that Hanging Lake is in Glenwood Springs, CO, a pit stop on their way home to Laramie from Moab.
