Sarah Corsie's Adventure StorySarah was born and raised in Nanaimo, BC, but now lives on the Sunshine Coast, where she works in marketing at Harbour Publishing - an independent publisher of books focused on the Sunshine Coast, BC, and the Pacific Northwest. Her favorite places to travel are Iceland and Hungary, and she spends her free time sailing, hiking, skiing and reading.
Plan your own Great American RoadtripThe Great American Roadtrip is a classic travel experience, and if you want to do it yourself, we've included some planning resources.
We're glad that Sarah came home safely. We want you to do the same, so to start, here's a video tutorial on how to tighten your lug nuts. Nomadic Matt Kepnes outlines how he managed to travel on the road in the US for about $50/day, and his article is full of great budget advice for those of you with dirtbaggy inclinations. We're particularly impressed that he managed 2 months of accommodations on about $1000! Did you know that the USA has an official travel site? Did you know that it has a list of road trip itineraries and a planner so you can customize? It's true, and it's pretty cool. And nothing goes together like road tripping and reflective philosophizing, so here's a Boldly Went's thoughts on America, formed along the way on the road. Mike DeVine's AdventureMike DeVine is a web developer in Seattle who describes himself as "just Jewish-ish enough to qualify for a birthright trip to Israel." Somehow, he found himself making his pilgrimage during wartime- and with a horrific leg injury, no less. (Be warned - the photos below are pretty bloody!)
