That photo in the header? That's from Michael Broschart and Taylor Redding on their approach to The Third Finger in the North Cascades. More info below.
These skiers, mountain bikers, hikers, and cross-country state champions were out of their element showing that going outside in conditions that you aren’t familiar with can be hilarious, dangerous, terrifying, life-threatening, frustrating, trying of relationships and educational.

Jakob Jarecki:
"I can't ski. I got my ass saved. But I still tried."
27 year old Portland transplant originally from Minnesota. He studied oceanography at University of Washington in Seattle and works in environmental education. He says he enjoys dad jokes, libations, and playing guitar.
Jakob helped start a program called Float Your Boat in Seattle. It is a partnership between the Center For Wooden Boats and the Coast Guard in which children around the country decorated their own small wooden boat cutouts that were dropped off near the North Pole on the ice and in the water a year ago by a coast guard icebreaker ship. The small boats have since dispersed in open water and are being used to track the ocean currents as they wash up on shores in the arctic and maybe beyond.

Jared Rose: "Long Live Living"
We've all been there. Gone underprepared into the wilderness. Carried way to much stuff that is way too heavy...but a cast iron skillet? Wow. Listen to Jared's story to hear how this outdoor experience in his high school years cracked the world right open and why it made him feel like exploring through hiking, backpacking and eventually running is something he could (and did) get into.
Watch this video made by Territory Run Co. to see Jared exploring in Oregon's high desert and to get inspired to go running in the outdoors.

Why? Why? Why? We explain in the blog.
All those musings are in our blog, but this week's is particularly touching and is a tribute to Tim's cousin, Kyle Mathis, who had a major impact in his life and who died prematurely at age 42. Read Merit Badges or the People that Change You now.
